BOOZING DAY

SATURDAY EVENING IS THE MAIN BOOZING DAY FOR ME. I USED TO BOOZE ALMOST EVERY DAY WHILE I WAS ABROAD. THERE BEENAAMMA TOO JOINED AND GAVE ME COMPANY FOR FEW YEARS.
WE HAD LOTZ OF FUNNY EXPERIENCE IN THE BOOZING TIMES.
ONCE WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT OUR CLOSE FRIEND MR RAJU UNEXPECTADLY VISITED OUR HOME. WE WERE STAYING IN A TRADITIONALLY OMANI HUT.
HE HAD BROUGHT FOR US ZINZANO VINE, MARINATED MEAT FOR BAR B Q AND GIN n TONIC ETC.
WE HAD A NICE LAWN AND ALL OF US GATHERED THERE. RAJU WAS WORKING FOR THE CEO OF COSTAIN GROUP OF CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN OMAN. HE WAS THE MAIN CHEF AND HE USED TO SPEND HIS WEEK ENDS SOME TIMES WITH US.
WE EITHER GO TO HIS PAVILION OR HE COME TO OUR HUT. GIN n TONIC WAS MY FAVORITE DRINK DURING SUMMER. WHILE WE HAD THAT, MY SPOUSE BEENAMMA USED TO COOK FOR US.
THIS PARTICULAR DAY RAJU TOLD HER TO TAKE REST AS SHE WAS CARRYING AND HE STARTED COOKING THE MARRINATED MEAT AND ALL OF US WERE IN THE LAWN.
EVENINGS OF GULF IS RATHER COLD AND VERY COLD IN DECEMBER. THATA WAS A DECEMBER DAY.
ALL OF US WERE BOOZING AND RAJU OBSERVED THAT BEENAAMMA IS NOT CONSUMING ANY THING. THE ZINZANO WINE WAS SPECIALLY BROUGHT FOR HER. RAJU TOLD HER TO HAVE IT.
BUT BEENAMMA WAS FOND OF TAKING WHISKY WITH 7up. RAJU TOLD HER TO HAVE A DRINK. BUT SHE SAID SHE DONT WANT AS SHE WAS NOT FEELING WELL. AND SHE TOLD HIM, SHE MIGHT VOMIT AND CHETTAN [MYSELF] IS HESITANT TO CLEAN WHILE VOMITING.
RAJU SAID THAT HE WILL CLEAN THE PREMISES IN CASE SOME THING HAPPENS LIKE THAT.
BEENAMMA HAD A GOOD DRINK OF ZINZANO WINE AND HAD ENOUGH BAR B Q MEAT AND POACHED FISH ETC.
WE HAD A FANTASTIC EVENING. ALL OF THE GUESTS WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE. BEENAMMA DID THE FIRST VOMIT AND RAJU WAS PLEASED TO ASSIST HER AND TOLD HER TO TAKE IT EASY.
SHE MADE UP A MEZZ WITH THE WHOLE PLACE AND RAJU WAS PLEASED TO CLEAN ALL THE AREA, EVEN THE UNTENSILS IN THE KITCHEN.

THIS TYPE FUNS WERE THERE IN EUROPE AND MIDDLE EAST. WHILE I WAS WORKING WITH NCR BEIRUT WE USED TO DRINK "lebanese arrack". MY IMMEIDATE BOSS USED TO INVITE ME WEEKENDS [ie. thursday]. FIRST THEY WILL START WITH THEIR NATIONAL DRINK THIS PARTICULAR ARRACK. I NEVER LIKED IT. IT WAS VERY STRONG. THEY USED TO TAKE WITHOUT DILUTING IT. IN CASE WATER OR SODA IS ADDED, IT BECOMES LIKE DETTOL.[ as if what happens to dettol while it is diltuted with water]. AFTER THIS LEBANESE ARRACK THEY START OTHER ENGLISH OR FRENCH DRINK. I USED TO AVOID AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THIS LEBANESE ORIGIN DRINK. SOME TIMES WHAT HAPPENS WHILE SUCH DRINK IS GIVEN FULL OF JOY, HAPPINESS AND LOVE WE CANNOT AVOID.
THE HOSPITALITY OF MY LEBANESE FRIENDS ARE MEMORABLE. I USED TO DANCE SOME TIMES THE MOMENT I HAVE GOOD INDOXICATION. I HAVE LEARNED DANCING FORM THIS PLACE.
NOW LETZ COME BACK TO TRICHUR WHERE I AM NOW. HERE WEEKENDS [ie. saturday] THATZ MY MAIN BOOZING TIME. I USED TO HAVE CLUB MEETINGS THREE OR FOUR IN A MONTH. THERE IS A SPECIAL BOOZING STGATION. BUT I HARDLY GIVE COMPANY TO THEM.
UNLIKE OTHER PLACES IN THE UNIVERSE HERE KERALITES JUST CONSUME TWO OR THREE DRINKS AS IF THEY ARE DRINKNG WATER. THATZ THEIR STYLE. BUT I CANNOT DO SO. I LIKE TO TASTE AND DRINK, SO I KEEP AWAY.
I NEED MINIMUM HALF AN HOUR TO FINISH A DRINK.

WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE COMPLETED 60 SUCCESSFUL HEART SURGERY FREE OF CHARGE TO POOR AND DESERVED PATIENTS WITHIN OUR LIONISTIC DISTRICT 324 E2. [ MALAPPURAM, TRICHUR AND PALAGHAT REVENUE DISTRICTS]
WE COULD GATHER YETERDAY [11-13-09] AT HOTEL ASOKA INN, TRICHUR WITH ABOUT 67 CLUBS IN THE DISTRICT TO CELEBRATE THIS FESTIVAL. WE SHALL BE COMPLETING MINIMUM 100 FREE HEART SURGERY BEFORE JUNE OUR FINANICIAL YEAR.
ALL THE FUNDS FOR THIS WERE CONTRIBUTED BY LIONS CLUB MEMBERS OF DIFFERENT REGION WITHIN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT. MINIMUM CONTRIBUTION WAS RS 50,000.00 @ HEAD. SOME MEMBERS HAD GIVEN MORE THAN THIS AMOUNT. YESTERDAY ABOUT 12 PAST DISTRICT GOVERNORS WERE PRESENT TO GRACE THE OCCASION. THE CHIEF GUEST WAS LION K. G. RAMAKRISHNA MOORTHY, THE HEAD OF INTERNATIONAL WING REPRESENTING INDIA AND OUR BUSINESS DISTRICT.
ALL THE SPONSORS AND SOME OF THE PATIENTS AND DIGNITORIES WERE GIVEN MEMENTO AND THE FUNCTION WAS VERY COLORFUL.
I AM SURE OUR LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT IN OUR DISTRICT CAN DO MORE SIMILAR PROJECTS.
THIS PROJECT WAS A DREAM OF OUR DISTRICT GOVERNOR LION GEORGE DE DAS AND THE CONCERNED DISTRICT CHAIRMAN LION C D SEBASTIN.

TEMPLE WHERE I GO EVERY DAY

ACHAN THEVAR SHIVA TEMPLE - KOORKKENCHERY - 680007

first of all let me tell you who is ACHAN THEVAR.............................achan thevar is LORD SHIVA

history:

while kerala was attacked by TIPPU SULTAN , a moothan family at palakkad ran away with the IDOL of lord SHIVA [SHIVA LINGAM] .....finally they reached at koorkkenchery...........this family was given shelter at this palce by the ruler of this village and they have established this temple at this place.......years after the temple authorities lost the neighbouring land and they found financial problem to run the temple...... and this MOOTHAN family returned to their home land after the time of tippu.............. later the ownership of this temple was given to some other people.... but they could not run the temple as they lost landed properties etc. ...and due to lack of fund.... they also left the temple for good........
finally what happened all the buildings were ruined except the IDOL......... it was lying like that for some time.......
years later VISWA HINDU PARISHAT was given the managment of this temple.........and they have renovated the temple - step by step.......it took years to bring to this stage..........special mention is to be given to Mr G Mahadevan and his team who have worked a lot to bring up this place..
every year in the malayalm month KARKKITAKAM [JULY] elephants are brought to this holy temple and they have been given medicated food and fruits.... which is called in malayalam aanayoottu [ആനയൂട്ട്]

>... this particular preventive herbal treatment is given even to the human being during this month....... according to the belief, the whole year will be healthy and energetic after this treatment.... the medicine will penetrate to the body especially this month of mansoon.......some photos of elephant related feeding is also displayed here......

this temple is about ONE kilometer from trichur round..... and it is on the trichur - irinjalakuda road....

new year of our lions club [ 2009 new year]
our lions club of koorkkenchery could celebrate new year only yesterday [9th jan 09].all of us gathered at aquatic club premises at mission quarters, trichur. c the photo. miss. little keerthy was our youngest dancer of the evening.

please c the couple. thatz our vice district governor lion t k kishore and his spouse lioness priya. ln kishore was the chief guest of the evening.the man next to them with stripes shirt is lion somakumar who is our district chairman for eye sight.he is a professionally qualified lawyer.

here comes lion denny N his spouse lioness keerthy denny. both are good singers. lion denny is a gold whole saler where keerthy is doing medical transcription. their baby's picture is shown at the top. she is a cute dancer.there were more singers. let me locate their fotos.

yes, here comes lion ajayan. he sings with his niece. unfortunately i dont remember her name. they also performed wonderful presentation.lion ajayakumar is also a gold whole saler [ornaments made to order in bulk only] and i assume that he is the chief executive of jwellery manufacturers association @ trichur.let me c if you could grab some more photos from my system.

yes, here comes jp who is controlling the show. he does master of ceremony with leo sivapriya. unfotunately i could not locate her foto. he only clicked my foto. karishma who sitting next to me did not want to pose and she was benting backwards. she too came into the net. leo karishma is a good singer, but this day she did not participate as she was not feeling well.

more photos to be added. but i really don't know how to layout the photos. all the photos are going on the top and it has to be dragged out to the bottom is really a messy job.i wonder if any readers of this blog could help me and teach me.what i experience from the blogging world, hardly people helps each other. i am after one kaanthary to teach me how to insert an amplifier as i have to upload some audio clips. in fact those are "kavithas" of geetha, sreedevi, tejaswini and one "thaaraattu paattu" of vijayalakshmi. all these names are bloggers and one way my colleagues in blog world.

so let me go back to lions movement.after the welocome address by the president lion k v sathyan, the chief guest was introduced by lion denny g alappat. unfortuately i could not upload his foto due to the technical issue which i stated above.then our chief guest of the day our vice district governor lion t k kishore inaugurated the evening and delivered his address.in fact cultural programms were after that.there was also mimicry by one of the young artist. he is leo kailas nath.he is the youngest boy of our lion ajayakumar, whose photo is displayed at the end of gallery.we had also a good band. i hv audio and video clips but unable upload as i mentioned the technical reasons already.we have lots of humanitarian projects in lions club.eradication of blindness is the main project.

also we have recently introduced a programe called ' heart beats' we undertake all the expenses of heart surgery for the poor. in fact i have to tell you lot of things about our lions club.you can read in this same page little more things on our club activities. in case u need to extend a chapter in your area, please contact me.

our meeting was adjoured for fellowship and dinner at half past 9. the dinner was really good. beverages were served to all the participants. specially made pastries too given to all of them along with wine. so, letz c later and i shall talk to you more about our club.

Although I work in Oman, I keep going to UK to meet my in laws……… last week while I was in London……. Friend of mine told me that she has to go to Frankfurt for some thing…. And she wanted me to accompany her…….. then I joined here………

ANNA DAANAM MAHAA DAANAM

today being the monthly birth day of Lord Shiva we offer lunch to the poor, needy and deserved people around our temple [achan thevar shiva temple]
ANNA DAANAM MAHAA DAANAM. [offering food is the best gift in the world.]
this practice being continued through out the year. any body can offer this by remitting indian rupees two thousand only [rs. 2000/-] (US$ 39) food for 75 people will be served. this is served in banana leaves, typical kerala style.
earlier food was served in open yard, later it was shifted to a rented premises, now a devotee of Lord Shiva donated rs. 50,000/- to build a dining room exclusively for this purpose.
this dinning room is not in good shape as lotz of masonary works, electrification, plumbing, flooring etc. to be done.
for the time being it is used as there is no other alterntive.
devotees donated dinning tables, chairs and some kitchen utensils.
anybody can donate funds.

now the temple authorities have plan to offer food on fortnightly/weekly and if enough funds generates even every day for 75 people.

today i was witnessed the feast. i too enjoyed it.
