SWINE FLU [പന്നിപ്പനി]

Dear Friends

Swine flu in India is spreading like wildfire, taking the toll to six.
Officials say there are currently more than 800 cases of the H1N1 flu
strain in India. Governments from all around the world are finding
ways to combat this deadly disease. The symptoms of this disease are
high fever, aches, fatigue, coughing or breathing difficulties,
headaches, vomitting and diarrhoea. So what can you do to protect
yourself? Stay calm and practice these 10 effective prevention tips.

1. Wash your hands frequently

Use antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at
least 15 seconds and rinse with running water ( Branch Managers are
requested to ensure availability of antibacterial soaps in the
toilets)

2. Get enough sleep

Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune
system in top flu-fighting shape.

3. Keep hydrated and stay in ventilated rooms.

Drink 8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your
system and maintain good moisture and mucous production in your
sinuses. Avoid use of airconditioners and permit as much of air
circulation as possible.

4. Boost your immune system

Keeping your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is
important in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful
vegetables, and vitamin-rich fruits.

5. Keep informed

The government is taking necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and
periodically release guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make
sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.

6. Avoid alcohol

Apart from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant
that can actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like
swine flu. So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune
system may be strong.

7. Be physically active

Moderate exercise can support the immune system by increasing
circulation and oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for
30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week will significantly perk up your
immunity.

8. Keep away from sick people

Flu virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a
cough or sneeze reach someone else’s nose. So if you have to be
around someone who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and
especially, avoid physical contact.

9. Know when to get help

Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their
instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.

10. Avoid crowded areas

Try to avoid unnecessary trips outside. Moreover, avoid touching your
eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way

hello keerthana my darling !

i have been thinking to write some thing about my grand kid keerthana. keerthana is 8 years old and schooling at amrita vidyalayam, ayyanthole, trichur. her father is dr rakesh who is a dentist. dr rakesh has clinic at edappal. her mother is jaisha who is a home maker. keerthana has a little sister mayookha.

once i was at her home just for a family visit with my spouse beenamma and my children rakhi and jayesh. her granma told me that keerthana has some picturs [pencil sketch] and she wants that displayed in my media channel.

i said itz not possible due to some technical issues. but i can do it in a blog and it was published once. and keerthana [chinchu] was very happy.

this morning [19th july 09] she was at my home, kokkalai, trichur to see the sarees we purchased for my daugher in law sethulakshmy. while her parents and my sweet heart beenamma and son jayesh was busy with displaying the sarees, these kids came to me. they wanted to see the fotos in my system.

while they were enjoying the photos, the little one was found talking to me. other wise she is very naughty and hardly come to my. but today she came to and was watching the fotos sitting on my lap.

while looking the photos, she was talking like any thing. i was surprised really with her talk. normally girls do talk more than boys. the little one we call chinnu and the elder one chinju.

their mother jaisha hails from guruvayoor. the home lord krishana [guruvayoorappan]. she looks like as if she has a chinese blend. even i felt the same to my daughter in law sethu. perhaps itz due to my poor vision.

now letz come back to keerthana.

keerthana likes my daughter rakhi too much. usually she never gives any thing to anybody while she is at her home. but she is fond of giving things to my dautgher rakhi. i dont know why she likes only her. some times she felt rakhi is also little girl like her. rakhi is aged 29 but she still looks like a school level girl. many of my friends used to ask her "ethraam classilaa patikkane? [ഏത് ക്ലാസ്സിലാ മോള് പഠിക്കണേ?]. thatz about rakhi. rakhi is a professional archtect b arch, married and settled at cochin.

again coming back to keerthana.
the drawing i had displayed in my blog "voice of trichur" was seen by her parents and grandma and by her class mates and she was found very happy.

today i took some fotos of her and her parents and few video clips of keerthana. it shall be posted in this blog.

so, i am introducing keerthana - my grand kid here.

video clips shall be posted shortly

MY VILLAGE CHERUVATHANY - KUNNAMKULAM

I WAS AT MY VILLAGE FEW DAYS AGO AND COULD STAY AT MY THARAVAADU. INTERACTED WITH MY REGULAR KIDDIES AROUND MY HOME. SOME FOTOS AND VIDEOS WERE PUBLISHED YESTERDAY IN MY BLOG. PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING LINK AND ENJOY.

http://voiceoftrichur.blogspot.com/2009/06/blog-post_13.html

THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO TRICHUR I COULD DROP IN ANU’S HOME. I HAVE BEEN TELLING HIM THAT I WOULD VISIT HIS HOME. BUT DUE TO MY LAZINESS AND UNHEALTHY SITUATIONS, I COULD NOT KEEP MY PROMISE.

BUT TODAY ALTHOUGH I AM UNWELL AND BEING HIS KIDS ARE TEHRE, I TOOK THE PAIN TO BE AT HIS HOME.
HE HAS TWO LITTLE KIDDIES. HIS FAMILY WAS VERY HAPPY TO RECIEIVE ME. THEY WERE LITTLE SAD AS I DID NOT TAKE ANY THING FROM THEIR HOME. NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES.

I SAID I WILL HAVE IT NEXT TIME.
HIS GIRL ANJANA IS A SWEETY. I COULD TAKE HER FOTOGRAPHS AND THE LITTLE PRINCESS ANAAMIKA DID NOT POSE ME FOR FOTOGRAPH. SO I HAD TO TAKE HER IN MY HANDS AND I DID TAKE TWO SHOTS. BUT IT DID NOT COME WELL AS THE FRONT CAMERA IS NOT GOOD IN RESOLUTION.

ANU’S MUM IS MY OLD FRIEND. HER HOME IS NEXT TO MY SCHOOL. I WAS SCHOOLING AT PURANATTUKARA. WE WERE FRIENDS IN MY CHILDHOOD.
ANU’S FATHER PAADU ETTAN WAS A HERO TO ME IN MY CHILDHOOD. HE USED TO TELL US [RAVI, KUMARAN AND MYSLEF] THE STORIES OF MALAYASIA, SINGAPORE ETC.
PAADU ETTAN HAD BOUGHT A RADO WATCH TO HIS BROTHER’S SON KUMARAN. THOSE DAYS RADO WATCH WAS RARELY AVAILABLE IN KERALA. SO KUMARAN WAS A LITTLE PRINCE THOSE DAYS.

I HAVE TO LOT TO TELL ABOUT RAVI AND KUMARAN WHO WHERE MY CHILDHOOD FRIENDS. WE USED TO HAVE LOTZ OF FUN. IN THE EVENING WE GATHER IN THE VILLAGE POND [ERUKULAM] AND SWIM WITH THE CATTLES [BUFFELLOW, COWS ETC.] RAVI AND KUMARAN WERE GOOD SWIMMERS BUT I WAS AN INFANT THOSE DAYS. BUT I COULD SWIM IN OTHER WORDS RAVI TAUGHT ME HOW TO SWIM.
WE SOME TIMES SWAM IN THE UNDERWATER AND PULLED THE LEGS OF THE GIRLS IN THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE POND. THE TWO BANKS OF POND WERE DISTRIBUTED. WEST FOR GIRLS AND EAST FOR BOYS.

WE WERE FOND OF LOOKING AT THE GIRLS BATHING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. SOME TIMES WE WILL SIT ON THE BUFFELLOWS AND DRIVE THEM TOWARD THE BANKS OF GIRLS AND CUT JOKES WITH THEM.

THOSE DAYS WERE REALLY REMEMBERABLE TO ME. AFTER BROWSING THE ENTIRE POND UNTIL IT BECOMES RED COLOUR, WE WILL WIND UP OUR OPERATIONS AND MOVE TOWARDS A COFFEE SHOP NEARBY. WE CALLED THAT SHOP AS “CHEERU’S CAFÉ”.

WE WILL HAVE COOKED TAPIOCA WITH PAPPAD AND BLACK COFFEE THERE. BLACK COFFE IS SPECIALLY BLENDED FOR US. ITZ MADE WITH DRIED GINGER, PEPPER AND SHARKKARA. THIS COFFEE IS GOOD FOR HEALTH. ITZ SORT OF A HERBAL COFFE.

AFTER HAVING COFFEE RAVI AND KUMARAN [THEY ARE NEIGHBOURS AND RELATIVES] WILL LEAVE TO THEIR HOME AND MYSELF TO MY PLACE. THEIR HOME IS ABOUT 100 METERS FROM MY HOME.

THEIR HOMES ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THICKLY CULTIVATED ARRECKNUT PALM TREES. I USED TO GO THERE OFTEN TO MINGLE WITH THEM.
THATZ THE WAY I BECOME THE FRIEND OF PAADU ETTAN. LATE PADU ETTAN IS THE PAPPAN OF KUMARAN AND RAVI. RAVI’S HOME WAS ADJACENT TO PAADU ETTAN’S HOME.

I HAVE LOTZ AND LOTZ OF MEMORIES ABOUT MY HOME LAND. THERE WAS NO TODDY SHOPS DURING MY CHILDHOOD AT OUR PLACE.
THE TODDY [COCONUT TODDY] MOSTLY SOLD THOSE DAYS. I WAS FOND OF DRINKING TODDY. TODDY WERE SOLD WITHIN THE HOMES OF TODDY MAKER . TODDY IS PRDUCED FROM THE COCONUT TREES. THE MAKER HAVE TO CLIMB ON THE TREE, DO SOME EXERCISE THERE AND BRING THE TODDY FROM THE FREE. ITZ SWEET BEFORE FERMANTAION.

WE WERE BOYS AROUND 15 TO 18 THOSE DAYS. SO DRINKING TODDY WAS FORBIDDEN TO US BECAUSE OF OUR NATURE.
BUT RAVI AND MYSELF USED TO DRIVE TO THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE VILLAGE AND HAVE TODDY THERE.

THOSE DAYS TO HAVE A CYCLE THAT TOO ENGLAND RALLY CYCLE WAS SOME THING GREAT. RAVI AND MYSELF HAD ENGLAND RALLY CYCLES. AND THE NEXT ATTRACTIONS WAS TURLIN SHIRT AND THE LAST ONE IS A SEIKO WATCH.
WE HAD ALL THESE THREE. THEN WE ARE CONSIDERED AS BIG SHOTS.
I REMEMBER EVEN NOW THAT MY FIRST TURLIN SHIRT WAS BLUE AND RAVI’S LIGHT GREEN. WE ALSO HAD HABITS OF SMOKING. WHILE VILLAGE MEN SMOKE BEEDY WE SMOKE BRANDED CIGARATTES.

WHAT TO SAY WE HAD ALL THE GOOD HABITS* THOSE DAYS. IN ONE WAY WE CAN TELL U THAT WE HAD ENJOYED OUR LIFE IN THE CHILDHOOD. MY DADD WAS ABROAD AND MY FRIENDS WERE RICH ENOUGH AND WE HAD GOOD RESOURCES TO HAVE FUNDS.

AFTER TALKING ABOUT ANU, I HAVE LANDED UP IN MY CHILDHOO.

MY CHILDHOOD STORY CAN BE CONTINUED IF THERE ARE READERS………..
